We spent Christmas 2018 at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale Arizona. The resort was warmly decorated with holiday fare. Our daughter used her manual wheelchair. The resort and grounds are accessible in most areas. We enjoyed walking on pathways around the resort. The grounds are perfectly manicured with indigenous plants, aromatic flowers and orange trees. The room was comfortable but could have used a couch for seating instead of just the beds. The balcony overlooking the golf course was the best! The bathroom was very accessible. Could have used a bit more counter space.

The pools were beautiful and had wheelchair accessible pathways to them. Each pool had a lift. The OK Corral is a recreation area with a large chess set, small climbing walls/net, basketball, corn hole and pingpong. There is a Kids Club which we were excited about because our daughter has participated in Kids Club activities at other Westin locations, however, this club didn’t allow us to be with our daughter during the activities. She did participate in a scavenger hunt to collect stamps from each venue at the resort. I used the spa locker room amenities paid for in our resort fees, which included a hot tub, steam room and sauna. My husband used the driving range for a very reasonable fee.

The restaurants were very good, but a bit pricey. All were wheelchair accessible except for Deseo which we couldn’t find a way to get in. The Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter were in easy walking distance even with a wheelchair. There were many shops and restaurants available. There is a Scotch Library, which for a price guests can sample vintage scotch whisky.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. There was a huge TV outside in the plaza/patio which overlooked the golf course. There were many heat lamps and fire pits to keep guests warm. It was a very festive time over Christmas with daily activities, hot chocolate cart and festive decorations. Each evening we looked forward to listening to the bagpipe player at dusk. We will certainly go back!
