You will sit in the back of the auditorium for any events and the doors to the bathroom are very heavy. but the staff is very gracious if you ask for help. I recommend this venue highly.
The Phoenix Art Museum is an outstanding venue in terms of accessibility. The vast majority of the museum has wide open passageways and very smooth flooring making it easy to get around.
There are five accessible parking spots in front of the museum. You do have to cross a lane to get to the museum and entrance ramp but this road appears to have very little in the way of vehicle traffic.
There is a ramp of about 25-30 feet that you’ll need to negotiate in order to reach the main entrance. That’s probably the biggest obstacle on the entire property in terms of accessibility.
The main entrance has an automatic door with a button so getting inside should not present a problem. Once inside the main lobby is large and spacious with almost no obstacles whatsoever. The front desk could probably use a cutout or lowered section for better accessibility but it works just fine as is.
There are three different restrooms in the museum, all of them are located on the main level (first floor). All of the restrooms have accessible stalls including the restroom inside the museum restaurant. However, perhaps the best option is the set of restrooms farthest from the entrance adjacent to the Katz Wing which has a family restroom.
All of the staff that we encountered were extremely pleasant and helpful.
All in all a great place to visit in Phoenix any time of year and extremely accessible. Check the Phoenix Art Museum website for current exhibitions and associated fees.
